Visual Rhetoric and Design

This course investigates the ways in which images move us. As I developed my theoretical foundation, I learned to create and evaluate a variety of visuals. Below are links to three projects I have continued to revise as well as a description from the assignment sheet.

Objects – In this assignment, we consider how we “invest ordinary objects with private and public meanings.” McQuade and McQuade ask “What, in fact, does our stuff say about us?” (111).

Place – In this assignment, you will select a place that matters to you and explore it more deeply so that you can observe it with “new eyes.”

Argument – In this assignment, we consider the question of identity as represented in images that circulate widely. In particular, we examine how gender, race, and class are represented and analyze the assumptions underlying these representations.
